Strathaven was built with guests in mind. Garden and lawn space, a small orchard, and coastal views from every window, make relaxing on the secluded sun decks pure pleasure. Nearby surf beach, hiking tracks and golf cater for the active, the native bird refuge, historical museum, cafes, glowworm caves, in-ground pool, wifi and occasional spa for those less inclined to be busy. And the fresh bread in the morning with the smell of an early coffee - bliss!
Stephan and Judith have worked in the education field for several decades. Now they like to share their beautiful property with occasional guests from home and abroad. Both are keen sports watchers, love morning walks with their briard Louis, and take pleasure in maintaining a cedar house that blends in so well with the coastal panorama they enjoy each day.
Waipu has a strong Scottish heritage, a thriving surf club 4km from the front door, nearby farm and forest tracts, and kilometres of untrammelled beach to explore. Outdoor water sports, hiking tracks and several northern beaches are on offer, while cafes, pub, museum and the Whangarei town centre lie close. The Northland coastline draws thousands of visitors each year, and Waipu is the perfect start or end of a visit. And with Auckland harbour bridge only 90 minutes away, Strathaven's within easy reach for a quiet weekend away for anyone wanting to treat themselves to some time out.
