We found the one-way streets quite confusing for driving around…better to park and walk.
Power to the city went out for about one hour…only a few businesses actually had a back-up generator and/or candles but everyone seemed to take it in stride.

Beautiful, historic and young student city.
Beautiful, historic and young student city. Wish I stayed longer here! Museum of the Revolution explained the history and context of Leon so well, would highly recommend. Try some street food too like elote! The atmosphere is the city was the nicest in all of Nicaragua.

The old part of town is a quaint colonial place with a lot of restaurant options; I recommend the small food tour offered to see the market and learn about the different fruits and dishes. The location is perfect for a quick visit to the beaches that are less than 30 minutes away, you can catch a taxi easily there.

Cathedral is a trip of its own.
Cathedral is a trip of its own. Walking on the rooftops, and also try to visit the catacombs. Going down the cero Negro volcanoes is fun just a 30 min hike up. Nearby beaches are nice clean not crowded with plenty of activities to do.

Very beautiful. The very best thing about Nicaragua was the People. So kind and amazing.
Other places I visited Backpackers Inn Boutique Hostel in Granada. Lus was amazing. The rooms are beautiful and Quiet. Excellent breakfast.
The staff at La Posada del Doctor was also so wonderful, specifically Melissa, Christian and Christian’s Mother who cooked us a wonderful breakfast.

If you have time, take a day trip to the Flor de Cana Rum Factory, only 45 minutes outside the city to the north. You have to schedule it .
Very nice owners, who really made our family incl the kids feel very welcome. Had the family Room with private ensuite and did not lack anything (maybe ac would be an additional add on, but survived the April heat with fans as well :)
Well equipped kitchen and nice patio with the option to wash laundry.
Only couple of minutes walk to the main market and cathedral.
I had a bad back and the arranged for a competent and very economic massage treatment in the room.
Can gladly recommend Casa Lula for staying in Leon.
Great value and has everything you need (note - no hot water but Leon is super hot and room had AC, which was a necessity). There is a very nice lady there that runs the show and she was so accommodating. She made us dinner one night. Did our laundry twice. We had to extend our stay twice with no issue. A bit of a walk from downtown, but always good exercise.
I stayed here for two nights on 8/4/2023 and 8/5/2023 and had a wonderful time. Loved how safe i felt. The neighborhood location is safe, people from outside cannot come into the hotel and I did like that. I also enjoyed the pool, and the staff who is super professional and extremely attentive. I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel is very close to the city center. Wifi is good. The area is very safe. The host is exceptional. My girlfriend was sick and the owner even heard her being sick and in the midde of the night made her a drink to calm her stomach and gave her fresh water and some pills to stop the major pains.
Good ac, ceiling fan and breakfast. Responsible and very friendly staff. Great sized room. Location was slightly out of the way but not by much. Everything you might want to see as a tourist is easily reachable by foot. Some local restaurants nearby, safe neighborhood. Good place to stay in León.
The owner is very polite and helpful, makes you feel welcome, the place is clean and comfortable, I liked the garden so quiet at night you can really have a good rest away from Leon usual heat. Wifi is really good. It's central and I felt safe.
Beautiful colonial hotel in the center of Leon. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Local breakfast (gallo pinto) was included and delicious. Excellent stay.
I think this might be one of the best hotels in town.
Very nice centrally located hostel. Shared room is spacious, with a strong fan next to the bed and lockers. They have good wifi, kitchen, free (good) breakfast. Pleasant place to spend few days in Leon.
Good value accommodation with breakfast included very friendly and helpful host and staff 10 minute walk into centre of Leon must do the Volcano boarding while
In Leon it was great fun
