I liked the central location of the Highland hotel and the activities for the children. The Winking Owl Aviemore is by far the best place to eat. It has such a huge choice of dishes at reasonable prices and great choices for celiacs and vegans. The staff at the Winking owl are lovely and there is a great atmosphere.

The town situated within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland. There are beautiful views of all the mountains, forests and lakes. Not far from the legendary Loch Ness, it's hard to spot a monster. Amazing fogs.

It was very snowy when I arrived on Christmas day and the town was quiet. Its a pleasant place and a great stop off point to explore the area. It has plenty of cafes and restaurants, as well as shops to keep folk happy. But its real beauty is in the welcome and the access to the surrounding areas.

Aviemore is the ideal base from which to discover the Cairngorms. The town itself has everything you could possibly need to an active stay in the mountains as any time of year and some decent eateries.
Stayed in lots more expensive hotels during our last minute holiday In Scotland but this was by far one of the cheapest and best.
Owners were super nice and helpful, the hotel room was clean, room were spacious and full of light with modern furniture.
It’s in a great location on the main High street but away from the noise.
Definitely going to reserve the family room next time in aviemore.
Thanks for a lovely stay, totally recommend to everyone and avoid the silly prices around.
The location was nice and quiet😀. There was a path nearby, which lead up to Boat of Garten, which I walked😀
Kaz was helpful when I had a bit of difficulty getting into the lock box😀
I had everything I needed and the co-op was just a 2 minute walk😀. There was a bus stop nearby, but I chose to walk into Aviemore, which I didn't mind doing😀
Plenty of shops and eating places. Public transport easy to access😀. Will book again cor summer so I can go exploring longer.
This was a good place to explore the nearby area, which was what we wanted. Even though the bathrooms or one bedroom are on the smaller side, they were perfectly functional and we enjoyed our stay there. It was pleasant to sit in the living room in the evening or on the little terrace after lunch when the sun finally came out. I cooked our meals and the kitchen was equipped with everything I needed. It was a great place for the three nights we had in Aviemore.
We were in the lodges this time and decor is very very tired. Big, clean lodge but just needs modernised (thread bare carpets isn’t appropriate for a £300 per night rate)!! Now been to Highlands & Aviemore hotels and still enjoy Aviemore as a location. Glad the swimming temperature is better in summer as very cold when we usually visit in January. Breakfast lovely and resort entertainment crew excellent, especially Rory!! What a hoot.
On first sight the building looked (and was) more like a pub than a hotel. However, the atmosphere within the bar area in the evening was really good. Lively, friendly chat/banter amongst the locals and even included us at times. Breakfast and Dinner were plentiful, tasty and well priced. Rooms were comfortable and warm. Location was a good base for walking, skiing (if snow available) and whisky trail, plus general tourism by car.
Location is really good and walk to hotel is fascinating. Also, railway station and m&s kiosk which is 24x7 open makes location perfect for stay in woods.
I will give thumbs up for very friendly staff who goes over and beyond expectations to make your stay perfect.
Another point to be noted is few restaurants are available nearby that help you to save some time.
The hotel was spotless and the bed/ pillows were so comfortable. The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of Aviemore close to a variety of activities. The food is amazing as was the breakfast and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning
Thought it would be on same standard as Macdonald Forest Hills which was outstanding . Staff very helpful here but hotel massive disappointment. Bedrooms are cramped and TV didn't work. Handle fell off door..stick with its sister hotel the forest hills in the trossachs
Hotel was lovely, right in the heart of Aviemore, firework display at the bells on New Year's night was absolutely brilliant, never seen a fire work display as good anywhere in my life, well worth it. Breakfast was awesome and views are 2nd to none.
First time at High Range. Great location for Aviemore. Had everything we required especially dog walks nearby. Accommodation warm on arrival. And extremely comfortable. Well maintained grounds and surroundings. Would return for more visits.
Very comfortable and clean hotel, the staff were friendly and the food was great! breakfast and dinner, both fantastic. even though we did not have a dog with us I was happy that it was a dog friendly hotel also. Great value for money 😁
Great location for outdoor recreation. We hiked to Ben Macnui and Loch Avon one day. Hotel was just up road from restaurants and other retail. Very friendly staff and flexible with our requests, even as they were fully booked.
I like the family friendly atmosphere of this hotel which has kept us coming back time and time again. The staff work very hard and this is evident to be seen. Lots of things to do for all the family. Thank you!
Onsite activities great for kids, nice location, Aviemore offers all the services for a short break.
If you decide to dine out with hotel, best to pre book as restaurants fill up fast.
Fantastic second New Year stay at the High Range Hotel, everything spotless, cleaning staff fantastic lovely quiet place to spend New Year in Aviemore, we will be back thank you.
I was many, many times in Aviemore and always stay in hotels, and that was a mistake! Perfect place for holiday ! You can find even board games and lego for kids 😉
