There was a lot of walking, which was fine for everyone on our trip, but any prospective traveler should understand this. This suited me as I mainly did the tour to meet people so I could have the option and the tour guide there is I needed to ask questions. Kenji our tour guide gave us guided tours everyday pretty much which was amazing as you could decide whether to do your own thing and meet up later or go with the group.

Japan Family Holiday
Japan Family HolidayYuji did an amazing job of ensuring a smooth trip, while being very flexible to the desires of the group. He planned beautifully and gave us the skills and confidence to navigate on our own for our free time. He kept the group from frittering away time and shared insights into history and culture for the many highlights. Had we tried to do this trip on our own, we would optimistically have been able to see half as much and would have entirely missed some very memorable experiences, like Hakone. We did the family tour and would highly recommend for families with kids 9-16.

Japan One Life Adventures - 14 DaysThe tour is incredible value for money, I think by the end of the first week when you include transport, accommodation and attractions we'd already made our money back and still had a week to go. It's a jam packed tour and it fits so much in but just be warned that because of that it does mean a lot of early starts, however it is worth it as it gets you in to most of the temples and shrines at the quiet times so they can really be enjoyed.

Iconic Japan National Geographic JourneysThe tour was a fantastic display of both Japanese culture and sights. The group I was with was great enhancing the already wonderful experience. I was also travelling with an elderly individual so I didn't know how well they would take to the physical requirements of the tour, but are tour guide made every effort to accommodate them when they could - be it taking a little bit of a detour to find a elevator; escalator or always checking in on them when they could which we both appreciated greatly. I was also interested in Japanese culture personally so I would ask the guide different questions related to the topic and they answered each question gleefully, glad that I was taking a personal interest into the subject. With that said I'm already planning my next trip back.

Japan Discovered (No. 1 Best Selling Tour)Our trip to Japan was long awaited and researched. Tourradar did not disappoint. There were numerous different tours of Japan to choose from, and after much debate we chose the Japan discovered 14 day cultural tour. Booking was easy and efficient and the tour company which ran our individual tour, Unique Japan Limited were amazing. Lots of pre trip information, an app to download with a summary, full itinerary, travel documents, destination documents, weather, maps and a messaging portal plus extra information on each day of the itinerary about our accommodation and things to do during free time. We had a great group of 11 plus our lovely tour guide Mika who navigated us around the jam packed itinerary effortlessly. We then had specialist guides at each destination who had in depth local knowledge. The places we went to and activities we undertook were great, highlights being the tea ceremony at Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa, Maiko meet and greet in Kyoto, washi paper and soba noodle making and the snow monkeys in Nagano. We were lucky enough to have clear skies on our approach to Tokyo so got stunning photos of Mt Fuji from the air. Luck smiled on us again with clear skies on the day we visited Hakone, so more stunning photos of the mountain then too! Would thoroughly recommend both companies and definitely encourage anyone to visit Japan. Far from being a country ticking off exercise, we are now planning to return and explore further.
