Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and some friends. On that trip, they came up with the idea that perhaps others may be interested in this style of travel too. Just like that, Intrepid was born. - When and where does the tour end?
The tour concludes in Venice, where you will have arrived the day before. No activities are planned for this day so you can say your farewells and depart your accommodation at any time!
- When and where does the tour start?
Day 1 of the tour is an arrivals day, which means you can arrive in Berlin at any time. Spend your free day settling in at your hotel and exploring, before gathering at 6pm to meet your guide and fellow travellers. Please be aware that the meeting point is subject to change until your final documents are released.
- Do you arrange airport transfers?
Of course we can! We are more than happy to assist in arranging your airport transfers, however this is not included in the tour price and will be at an additional charge. Due to our expertise, we will be able to find you a good option for your transfer!
- Can you assist with booking additional accommodation?
Of course we can! If you wish to arrange additional accommodation then please contact our customer support team once you have a confirmed booking.
- What is the age range?
The age range for this trip is 15 to 99 year olds. This is a Basix trip designed for travellers on a budget, and it generally attracts a younger crowd. However Intrepid's appeal is diverse, which is why it's all about your shared attitude, not age.
- I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?
There is no single supplement on this tour, as many people who join the trip are solo travellers. Accommodation on this trip is twin-share and you will be paired with a fellow traveller of the same sex. This is a great opportunity to interact with like minded people and make some new friends!
- Are the flights included?
Flights before and after the tour are not included in the tour price and you need to arrange these separately by yourself once your tour is guaranteed. As we specialise in organising the best tours around the world for you, we are unable to advise on flight prices or book flights on your behalf. - Is there a hotel list available?
Hotel lists for this trip are not confirmed until your final tour documents are released, which will be 3 - 4 weeks prior to departure. This tour is classed as one of Intrepid's Basix style trips, and generally will include budget accommodation, sometimes with shared facilities and occasionally on a multi-share basis. This particular tour includes the following:
2 nights - Guesthouse
4 nights - Hostel
5 nights - Hotel
1 night - Overnight sleeper train
2 nights - Private apartment
Hopefully, this gives you a better idea of the type of accommodation you can expect while on tour. - Are the accommodations usually located near tourist attractions?
The accommodations are carefully picked. The first accommodation choice is always as close to the main attraction of the destination as possible. However, if it is not, you may need to hop on a public transport to get to the city centre.
- What can I expect from the accommodations?
Please note that service and accommodation in Europe may be different to the standards you are used to. Your accommodation will not always have private en suite facilities or air-conditioning. European hotels generally do not provide kettles or fridges and in particular destinations, rooms may be rather small.
