You were on a shared tour, meaning with other travelers in a van, and you decided to leave this group tour 1 hour earlier than scheduled. When we had asked to know why you believed this private taxi ride should be covered by us, your response was that you simply felt entitled to it, plain and simple. After we respectfully declined, you raised absolute hell. Our challenges with you began well before you had started our New Zealand tour. Several weeks before your tour start date, I, the Founder of the company, personally called you and asked if we could cancel your tour and provide a full refund. Canceling your tour was what everyone, both on-ground and internally, had advised me to do before placing that call to you and speaking with you for the first time. Pre-tour, you had constantly expressed frustration over the tour package price, despite the fact you had paid the 2023 price for a 2024 tour and received a discount on top of that. You pleaded with me not to cancel and my great regret is approving your request. Post-tour, you wrote us, “I paid $5772 for activities.” You paid exactly $3,543.50 USD. Notwithstanding this fact, you wrote: “I felt ripped off… I mean i would be much happier to get a lot of the money back that I feel was unfairly charged for that experience. I wouldn’t ask for all, but I think $1700 would be fair…I have done my calculations.” The $3,543.50 you paid minus the $1,700 you believe you were “ripped off” makes a difference of $1,843.50 USD for a 9-day tour of New Zealand. $1,843.50 USD is what you calculated this New Zealand tour should have costed. Let’s say Tour Radar did not make a penny of profit. Let’s say CharlieTheTraveler did not make a penny of profit, which is unfortunately the truth. The Helihike Tasman Glacier ride you took, which was just 1 of the many activities you engaged in during your 9-day tour with us, the airplane company charged $925.15 USD. The Milford Sound flightseeing daytrip you took, the airplane company charged $385.61 USD. This leaves us with $532.74 USD for 9 days of touring New Zealand…and you still feel “ripped off.” We previously explained all of this to you and your response was: “I look forward to still being compensated for that.” Rather than allow us pre-tour to fully refund your purchase and cancel like I suggested on our call, rather than you find a package which fits into your budget of $1,843.50 USD for 9 days in New Zealand, you went with our package hoping you would get $1,700 USD by threatening to write a bad review if the money did not show up in your bank account. Your moral values and integrity should be worth a lot more than $1,700 USD.
